This September, Australian Dance Theatre presents the world premiere season of North/South, created in collaboration with internationally-lauded Norwegian choreographer, Ina Christel Johannessen and ADT’s Artistic Director, Garry Stewart. Johannessen’s North sees a group of strangers trapped in a bus shelter somewhere in the Arctic Circle. In this confined space they negotiate conflict and intimacy amidst a raging snow storm. Stewart’s South draws inspiration from explorer Sir Douglas Mawson’s fateful journey to Antarctica in 1913, using his experience as an allegory for our current predicament of loss and uncertainty in a rapidly changing world. This epic double bill sees two renowned choreographers united to create a unique artistic experience centred around one of the most significant issues of our times: climate change.
